Today is our graduation day for the critical care nursing internship at University of Perpetual Help Hospital in Las PiƱas. So yeah, now I have no choice but to go job hunting again. This time I may have a better chance because of the experience that I have gained working in the ICU, ER and Hemodialysis unit. But if you're like me who have gone job hunting so many times, you'd also probably feel a little doubtful. I just hope I'd really make it this time, that I'll get accepted into a tertiary hospital so that I can work regularly. I've got a few plans already. My first plan is to re-apply to the hospitals where I submitted my CV a few months ago. Maybe this time they'll consider that I'm better skilled because of my added credentials. I have also completed my IV therapy training a few months back. Now I'm licensed and was able to practice it during my internship. I've also gained a lot of nursing skills in the ICU and ER, and even learned how to operate a hemodialysis machine. I also have plans of doing private duty nursing to people who are sick but don't want to stay in the hospital. The setting is more conducive to recovery with less stress from hospital procedures and policies. In my part, it will be less pressure from nagging doctors and late nurses for the next shift. The pay is also a lot better than in the hospital. I already have an agency to check out. Someone referred me to it and I'll see if they're good. My other plan is to find employers who are willing to let me work abroad (other than the US). That's the last choice I have but it's probably not a long shot at all since I'm not expecting a lot from the first two. It's good if I get accepted here, I'll be able to focus on my career than to find work abroad. However, if I pursue the private duty nursing, I think I'll still have to find a job abroad. It isn't really something that's permanent. The patient may not require a nurse anymore soon, whatever the reason maybe. So it's still all just plans. The thing that will keep me busy for the coming weeks is my volunteer work at PGH. Although it won't add a lot to my nursing skills polishing, I know it will do something in my CV. PS. For those who are looking for the video presentation I made for the CCNI graduation, please give me a few days to upload the whole thing, it's too damn big. You can also send me a message before November 24 so that I can prepare you a copy in a DVD together with all the pictures that I wasn't able to include in the presentation. It will just cost you P20, just pay for the blank DVD. After the 24th, then you'll probably just have to wait for me to be able to upload the whole thing. You can also e-mail me some pictures you have so that I can post a download link here for the others to download as well.
